Description

The Dallas Arboretum and the Frontiers of Flight Museum are collaborating to bring the 4th and 7th grade students of North Texas an exciting full day adventure. Students will attend both venues to discover the wealth of history that is found in the North Texas area. This is a collaborative tour by the Dallas Arboretum and the Frontiers of Flight Museum. The Dallas Arboretum will allow the students to discover the rich agricultural heritage of this area and participate in agrarian hands on activities. While at the Frontiers of Flight Museum, Living Historians will explain how the aviation and space industries have impacted the growth of the North Texas economy. This adventure will require the students to be off campus for all day or parts of two days using bus transportation.

Students Will

  • Learn about the interdependence of people, animals, and plants and the resourcefulness of the pioneers.
  • Explore a tepee, real sod house, cabins, covered wagon and gardens.
  • Investigate the lives of the early Texas settlers.
  • Hear living Texas History actors describe their life
  • Tour exhibits highlighting the influence that the aviation industry had on North Texas

Duration: Full program is one school day. May be divided over two visits.
School Fee: $8 per child/ 1 free teacher per 10 students/ $7 per adult

Other Information: Maximum 30 per session; maximum 4 sessions per day. One voucher created for the Arboretum will cover the cost of the program at both facilities.

Deadline: Please e-mail or call to book your program prior to the expiration of your voucher. Payment in full is due at least two weeks before your desired date.
Cancellation Policy: Cancellation Policy: A non refundable deposit or an Arts Partners voucher and approval code is due within 10 days of booking your program. Your remaining balance is due two weeks before your scheduled visit date. A program is confirmed when you receive your contract by e-mail. Should inclement weather or unforeseen circumstances prevent the program from taking place as scheduled, the Arboretum will work with you to reschedule. Changing dates for a program can be made with sufficient advance notice and we will make every effort to reschedule your program to an alternate date. No refunds will be given for absent students. All programs will begin promptly at the time scheduled. The Dallas Arboretum is not responsible for groups who arrive late. Cancellation of the program after confirmation is subject to full payment.
After School Policy: After School Policy: An on site teacher or after school staff person must be present for the duration of the workshop. All student participants must adhere to the policies and procedures of the provider program as well as the rules and regulations of the school/ site itself. School/site must provide a clear, clean space or classroom for each session.
