Description
Spark your students’ interest in electricity and magnetism with this highly interactive auditorium program. We’ll explore the properties of electricity using a Van de Graaff generator and Tesla coil, and we’ll cover topics including plasma, electromagnetism, Lenz’s Law, direct and alternating currents, Ohm’s Law, Joule’s Law and transformers. Prepare your students for a truly hair-raising experience as they discover the power of science.

Students Will
  • Learn about static alternating and direct current, lighting and radio waves
  • Learn about static electricity
  • See displays of electrical power

Dates: Monday - Friday
Times: 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM
Duration: 50 minutes
School Fee: $385 first program; $175 each additional program (same program, same day)
Minimum Attendance: 10
Maximum Attendance: 250
Bilingual: No
Technical Needs: Large auditorium, cafeteria or gymnasium with high ceilings and at least 15 ft. Between equipment and audience: 4-6ft long table; access to 2 separate uncovered 110V electric outlets; control of the lights
Other Information: Maximum four shows per day

Deadline: Please contact reservations at least 2 weeks before your requested date.
Cancellation Policy: 2012-2013 Payment, Refund and Cancellation Policy for programs booked with ArtsPartners funding: Perot Museum of Nature and Science School Day Programs and Outreach -A nonrefundable deposit is due within 10 days of booking your program. (An ArtsPartners voucher number and approval code) -Your remaining balance is due 2 weeks before your scheduled visit date. -If you choose to reschedule your program you must contact the reservations department at least 2 weeks before your scheduled visit in order for your deposit/payment/voucher to be applied to your new visit date. -Your reservation may be cancelled if your deposit/payment/voucher information is not received by the due date. -Refunds will only be made in the event of Museum equipment failures, power failures and school closings. NO OTHER REFUNDS WILL BE ISSUED
